Important Info & Documents
  • Rules and Expectations
  • Track and Field Handbook

Equipment Needs
  • Distance runners... a good pair of training shoes - every 350 miles. Recommended: get fit for shoes at a good store that watches you run (On Your Mark - ask for Adam).
  • Spikes or event specific shoes (jumps, throws)
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunblock
  • Water bottle - mandatory to avoid trips to the water fountains during practice
  • A running watch - optional, but highly recommended for distance runners; a simple watch with time and splits is good enough.

Transportation Assessment
A $100.00 transportation assessment is required for participants. This pays for buses to and from meets. Please make the check out to LAHS Athletics and turn it into the LAHS bookkeeper. An email will be sent at the start of the season.

All athletes must pay the transportation/participation assessment in order to ride on the bus and compete in the meets. No one will be allowed on the bus unless they have paid their transportation/participation assessment or received a financial aid waiver. Contact Mrs. Noeth with questions.

Transportation Rules, Parent Drivers
  • All athletes are expected to ride the bus unless other arrangements have been made prior to the meet. A coach will take role before the bus leaves.
  • Athletes may NOT drive themselves or with any other student.
  • A parent driver may NOT take home any other runner unless they are an approved driver on file with the MVLA District.  The volunteer parent driver form can be found here.
  • If you need to take your runner home earlier, please sign them out with a coach at the end of their warm down. A coach needs to see the parent at sign-out.  This may sound silly, but it is a safety issue that wouldn't seem so silly if your child was involved in a situation.

Uniform Information
The school will provide each athlete with a uniform for running. There is no deposit necessary for the uniform, however you need to get the right signatures on the uniform tracking card (the "blue card", but I don't think its blue...). This card will show that you have received a uniform. At the end of the season, you return the uniform and the information is checked off on the uniform tracking card. Forgetting to turn in your uniform will haunt you until the day you graduate. Except the school won't let you graduate without clearing up any un-returned uniforms. So make sure you get things checked off correctly.
